* $124,000 - $137,000 + ACT Pathology allowance of $14,575

Are you an experienced Senior Scientist or Laboratory Manager looking for an exciting leadership role in Diagnostic Genomics? We are seeking a highly skilled professional to manage and lead the Diagnostic Genomics Laboratory of a Government Health Service in Canberra, overseeing operations, staff, and service delivery. Our client provides 24/7 diagnostic and consultative services across hospitals and community settings. The Diagnostic Genomics Laboratory specializes in cytogenetics, SNP microarray, Fluorescence In Situ Hybridisation (FISH), and molecular genetic techniques for both constitutional and oncological abnormalities.
RESPONSIBILITIES COULD INCLUDE:
* Lead and manage the day-to-day operations of the Diagnostic Genomics Department
* Oversee staffing, training, and recruitment, ensuring a high-performing team
* Drive the development and implementation of new genomic techniques and maintain accreditation standards
* Ensure quality control, compliance, and continuous improvement in laboratory operations
* Provide expert scientific advice to clinicians and represent the laboratory on professional committees
MANDATORY QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
* Tertiary qualifications in Medical Laboratory Science or a related field
* Minimum three years' experience in a supervisory role within a diagnostic laboratory
* Strong leadership, quality assurance, and technical expertise in genomics and pathology laboratory management
