About the role
Our Commonwealth Government client is seeking to engage an experienced professional at the EL1 level to lead the delivery of protective security and property services within a nationally significant agency focused on sustainable resource management. The successful candidate will fulfil the role of Agency Security Advisor and oversee property operations, working closely with internal stakeholders across support services, risk, and IT.
Operating under limited direction, the role requires a strategic thinker and problem-solver with the autonomy to contribute to planning, project delivery, and policy development in a complex and dynamic environment.
An initial 12-month labour hire contract is on offer, with the possibility of a 12-month extension. Our client has office locations in Canberra, Adelaide, Albury, Goondiwindi, Griffith, Mildura, and Murray Bridge, with anticipated commencement in late August ****.
Please note: the successful candidate must be an Australian citizen with a minimum Negative Vetting 1 security clearance.
Duties
Oversee the management of the agency's protective security function, including security clearances, pre-employment screening, security advice, awareness training, audits, and assurance activities
Research and develop security threat material and conduct security risk assessments
Coordinate and advise the Security Governance Committee, reporting on security maturity and contributing to executive and audit committee reporting
Lead property facilities management, projects, and performance to align with government best practices, compliance requirements, and sustainability goals
Manage lease negotiations, contracts, change requests, fit-outs, and property and security policies
Supervise a small reception team and oversee the delivery of reception and broader support services
Requisite skills / experience
Ability to respond in a positive and flexible manner to deliver outcomes while operating in a dynamic, fast paced environment
Strong communication and negotiation skills, both orally, including meetings and formal presentations, and in writing
Experience in the application of the Protective Security Policy Framework (PSPF), particularly in the areas of government security, security risk management and security investigation
Experience in the application of the Commonwealth Resource Management Framework (CRMF), particularly in the areas of property and facilities management, and project management
