This is an exciting opportunity for a Senior Associate - Employment Law to join a leading law firm in Canberra. The role involves providing expert legal advice and support in employment law matters to a diverse client base.

This well established law firm offers sophisticated legal services across employment law, commercial law, litigation, and advisory work. Their employment law team is highly regarded in the market and upholds some of the most experience partners.

Description

As a Senior Associate specialising in employment law you will:

* Lead a broad employment law portfolio advising employers (and potentially senior executives) on complex workplace relations, contract negotiations, industrial frameworks, WHS/compliance issues, terminations, enterprise agreements and policy design.
* Manage litigation and dispute resolution matters across tribunals and courts, collaborating with partners and external counsel where necessary.
* Provide strategic, commercial-minded advice to clients, translating legal risk into practical workplace solutions.
* Supervise and mentor junior team members, contribute to business development initiatives, and strengthen the firm's employment offering.
* Engage closely with colleagues across other practice areas (commercial, corporate, litigation), contributing to cross-practice client engagement and holistic service delivery.

Profile

The successful candidate will have:

* Admission to practice and typically have anywhere from 4 to 8+ years PQE (or equivalent strong experience) in employment/workplace relations law, ideally with exposure on both advisory and litigation sides.
* Proven experience advising and representing employer and or employee side (and possibly executive/senior leadership) clients on complex workplace frameworks, enterprise bargaining, terminations, discrimination/harassment matters, and WHS or industrial issues.
* Strong business acumen, excellent drafting and advocacy skills, and a reputation for delivering commercially-focused, client-centric outcomes.
* Leadership capability, including mentoring junior lawyers and contributing to the strategic growth of the employment law team.
* A motivated, proactive and collaborative mindset aligned with a values-driven, high-performing legal culture.
