What You Will Be Doing
The successful candidate would hold a Certificate III in Engineering – Fabrication Trade and have demonstrated experience in the defence or marine shipbuilding industry, with at least 5 years' experience in a Boilermaker/Welder position using multiple welding processes including MMAW and GTAW. You will be performing fabrication, welding, and general maintenance duties while working on planned maintenance and defect repairs for government defence submarines.
Duties will include reading and interpreting fabrication drawings and blueprints, performing MMAW & GTAW welding techniques to fabricate and repair metal structures, and measuring, cutting, shaping, and assembling metal components using hand and power tools, grinders, torches, and welding equipment. The role requires strong attention to detail, the ability to work independently or as part of a team in workshop or onsite environments, and maintaining clean and safe work practices in line with WHS requirements. Applicants must be calm, patient, and methodical, as the work involves a high level of permits, compliance checks, and paperwork associated with defence projects.
What You Will Need
* Cert III in Engineering – Fabrication Trade.
* Solid aluminum welding background of 5 years minimum.
* Confined Spaces Ticket.
* White Card.
* WA Drivers Licence.
* National Police Clearance.
* Must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment medical assessment and be willing to undertake Hepatitis A and B vaccinations if not already immunised.
