The Corporate Governance Section within the Corporate Services and Governance Division is responsible for enterprise risk management, business continuity, governance, doctrine, sustainability, planning, performance reporting, ministerial and parliamentary. The risk management function comprises a small team responsible for enterprise risk management. The key duties of the position include To ensure the agency satisfies its legislative obligations under the Public Governance, Performance and Accountability Act 2013 and the Commonwealth Risk Management Policy, the Assistant Director undertakes a range of activities to support the effective and efficient functioning of enterprise risk management practices across the AEC. The Assistant Director will lead a small team and will report to the Director Corporate Governance. This role will manage and implement the AEC's Risk Management Framework which includes supporting the Chief Risk Officer and regularly drafting briefings on enterprise risk management to the agency's senior executives. The Assistant Director will maintain the enterprise risk register, perform a stewardship role supporting the agency in effective risk management practices, and undertake risk analysis on complex and interdependent risks. The Assistant Director will establish and maintain key stakeholder relationships with senior executives and provide specialist advice to risk owners to support them in meeting their obligations. In this role you will have understanding or be able to quickly obtain knowledge of the AEC and its operations to support risk management practices in election preparation activities. To excel you'll have: Demonstrated knowledge and application of the Commonwealth Risk Management Policy and the Public Governance, Performance and Accountability Act 2013. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate information to a range of audiences, including routine written reporting to senior executives and committees. Proven ability to undertake critical analysis and support risk management practices in a complex operating environment across a wide range of business functions. Proven ability to negotiate outcomes and manage complex stakeholder relationships, including across a geographically dispersed network. Experience effectively managing competing priorities and strategic direction, with an ability to remain calm under pressure and respond productively to change. Desirable Tertiary (or equivalent) qualifications in risk management or related field.
