Job Description

Wickham Freight Lines will have a brand-new purpose-built Terminal based in Derrimut - VIC with an expected opening mid 2026. Our business is expanding and we will have a new Cold storage facility, Workshop, Wash Bay and expanding our Transport Operations.
Our workshop is the core of our network, playing a critical role and ensuring our heavy vehicles operate safely across Australia. Wickham Freight Lines is opening an opportunity for you to show your interest in working for us as a skilled Heavy Vehicle Mechanic, joining our workshop team at our brand-new purpose-built Melbourne Terminal. This permanent, full-time role offers an exciting opportunity for talented individuals to contribute their expertise and be part of a dynamic work environment.
As a Heavy Vehicle Mechanic, you will be responsible for:
* Conducting routine maintenance and repairs on heavy vehicles
* Experience working with Kenworth, Thermo King and BPW
* Diagnosing mechanical and electrical faults in vehicles and equipment
* Perform preventative maintenance and repairs with the intention of reducing the occurrence of breakdowns
* Repairing and maintaining of diesel engines, transmissions, brake systems, and hydraulic systems
* Testing vehicle components for proper functionality and performance
* Collaborating with colleagues to maintain a safe working environment and uphold industry standards

* Ability to carry out mechanical tasks with minimal supervision
* Proven ability to meet deadlines and to make independent decisions
* Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills
* Proven ability to work within a team environment
* Certification in heavy vehicle mechanics - Heavy Vehicle Road Transport Certificate III or Diesel Fitter qualifications or related field
* 'HR' or 'HC' class driver's licence (desirable)
