Flower Master Pty Ltd is an Australian owned company supplying flowers to the national market. We are seeking an Agronomist. Reporting to the Managing Director, this role will be responsible for implementing and maintaining all aspects of the crop growing program. You will be capable of working in a team environment or autonomously as required, ensuring the continuation of quality through the entire production system.
Daily activities are undertaken either outdoors or in an office or shed environment, with varying conditions depending on the weather. Harvest and planting periods will require extended hours.
Key Responsibilities:
· Crop support and inspections around pest, disease and nutrition crop programs.
· Irrigation monitoring and scheduling via remote probes and field inspections.
· Soil testing and nutrition monitoring and management.
· Plan and coordinate the production of all our crops.
· Maintain the nursery production of seed crops and new varieties.
· Record and monitor the production schedule to ensure all tasks are completed in line with agreed timing for all plantings.
· Record outcomes of planting and crop harvest for future seasonal planning requirements.
· Develop procedures and techniques for solving problems and improving the efficiency of production.
· Maintain farm buildings, fences, equipment and water supply systems.
· Perform R&D trial work on new growing practices and products.
· Ensure compliance to and maintenance of our workplace health and safety process.
· Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills to develop and grow relationships with colleagues, growers and team members.
· Demonstrate well-developed oral & written communication skills.
· Adopt a collaborative approach to building success.
The following skills will be held in high regard:
· A Diploma or Degree in Agriculture or Agricultural Science is essential. Will consider a graduate seeking to build a career in agriculture.
· Previous Flower Agronomy experience will be an advantage.
· Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office and systems.
· A driver's licence is essential; other licences including forklift will be an advantage.
· Be physically fit with a hands-on approach.
· Previous experience with workplace health and safety regulations.
· Ability to work in a team environment or autonomously as required.
· Enjoy working outdoors.
· Willing to undertake additional training as required.
