Job Title: Manager, Critical Facilities Engineering
The Illawarra Mercury seeks a skilled professional to oversee critical facilities infrastructure across our Eastern Cluster.
About the Role
We operate over 260 data centers globally, enabling digital leaders to interconnect infrastructure swiftly. As part of our operations team, you will maintain critical facilities infrastructure, overseeing onsite engineering teams and collaborating with cross-functional teams.
This role involves managing four data centers in Canberra, Silverwater, Brisbane, and Unanderra, requiring strong leadership, technical expertise, and strategic planning.
Main Responsibilities
* Lead and manage onsite supervisors and engineering teams, ensuring 24/7 operational oversight.
* Promote safety, compliance with service level agreements, and a culture of error avoidance.
* Oversee maintenance of electrical, mechanical, and heating ventilation air conditioning systems.
* Provide strategic guidance on financial, safety, and operational planning.
* Coordinate with other departments to support business objectives and customer satisfaction.
* Manage resources, control costs, and optimize resource allocation.
* Implement change control processes, ensuring systematic review and documentation of infrastructure modifications.
* Ensure policy compliance and regularly update protocols.
* Develop incident management protocols to address operational disruptions efficiently.
* Oversee contractor performance, manage contracts, and maintain external vendor relationships.
Qualifications and Skills Required
* Proven experience in site ownership, preferably in multi-site roles, with troubleshooting skills across locations.
* Experience in budget management, including headcount, capital, and expenses.
* Strong understanding of critical operations, communications, and mechanical/electrical systems.
* Expertise in project and program management.
* Ability to interpret design documents, contracts, and technical information.
* Experience managing campus-level requirements and providing targeted recommendations.
* Strong skills in performance management, recruitment, and employee development.
