About the role:
Based at our Dandenong workshop, we are seeking a Leading Hand Mechanic to guide, mentor and train our apprentices for the afternoon shift.
As a Diesel Mechanic Apprentice Leading hand, you will play a crucial role in shaping the next generation of skilled mechanics. Your responsibilities will include:
10. Training and Mentoring
11. Provide hands-on training and mentorship to apprentice mechanics.
12. Carry out technical diagnosis and guidance in repairs.
13. Share your expertise in diesel engine maintenance and repair techniques.
14. Foster a learning environment that promotes skill development and growth.
15. Ensure all work meets high-quality standards and adheres to industry best practices
16. Conduct regular inspections and assessments to maintain service excellence
17. Implement corrective actions as necessary to address any quality issues
18. Collaborate with team members to enhance overall workshop efficiency.
19. Communicate effectively with apprentices, fellow mechanics, and workshop management
20. Provide constructive feedback to support continuous improvement.
About you:
21. Proven experience as a Diesel Mechanic with a focus on training and mentoring
22. Strong communication and interpersonal skills
23. In-depth knowledge of diesel engines and related systems
24. Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment
25. Commitment to maintaining high-quality standards in all aspects of the job
26. Willing to take a Pre-employment medical, including drug and alcohol test
Waste industry experience is not essential.

Shortlisted candidates must be prepared to undertake a full pre-employment medical which includes drug and alcohol screening as well as a National Police Clearance if required.
