The Network Engineer will undertake physical network discovery activities within Health Service Provider environments, including hands‐on tracing, identification, labelling, and documentation of existing Ethernet and fibre cabling to support switch‐over (transition) readiness.
Provide technical expertise to plan, execute, and test the switch‐over of end‐user equipment from the legacy network to the new segregated health Local Area Network (LAN).
Key responsibilities
* Utilise endpoint analysis tools to identify devices and ensure correct tagging within the appropriate micro‐segments.
* Analyse equipment traffic profiles using endpoint analysis tools to ensure firewall rules and access control lists (ACLs) are correctly configured to support communication between micro‐segments.
* Develop treatment plans using pre‐determined templates, providing detailed checklists to support equipment switch‐over activities.
* Collaborate with service delivery teams to resolve issues related to supporting services, including DNS, DHCP, certificates, and group policy.
* Liaise with service delivery teams to develop treatment plans for voice services to be established on the new LAN.
* Display a solid Cisco enterprise networking fundamentals, with hands‐on experience in Catalyst switching and practical L2/L3 troubleshooting in large campus environments.
* Foundational understanding of Cisco SD-Access, including fabric concepts (edge, border, control‐plane), VXLAN, LISP, and SGTs, with experience supporting SDA environments even if not designing them end‐to‐end.
* Experience supporting live production networks, ideally in hyper‐care, transition, or post‐cutover phases, with the ability to follow runbooks, elevate appropriately, and methodically isolate faults.
* Basic exposure to security and visibility platforms, such as Cisco ISE, NetFlow/telemetry, or OT visibility tools (e.g. xDome or similar), with the ability to interpret logs and flows rather than design the platforms.
* Apply experience with IoT, particularly within medical environments, to identify appropriate treatment plans and coordinate configuration changes with third‐party providers.
* Work with Health Service Provider representatives to plan the switch‐over of on‐premises compute platforms and hypervisors to the new LAN.
* Document treatment plans and engage with technical change management to ensure adherence to established governance and best‐practice processes.
* Develop and execute test plans to validate backbone establishment and switch‐over activities.
* Complete all program reporting in the required format and at the specified frequency.
Successful candidates will be able to:
* Obtain a good work/life balance in a hardworking, yet positive and friendly environment.
