ABOUT THE ROLE
Norton Gold Fields is seeking an experienced Haulage Maintenance Supervisor to lead the safe, reliable, and cost-effective maintenance execution of our surface haulage fleet across multiple operations, including Paddington, Binduli, Golden Cities, and associated haul routes.
This role is responsible for supervising frontline maintenance teams and contractors to ensure fleet availability, safety, and compliance targets are achieved. You will play a critical leadership role in coordinating daily maintenance execution, driving reliability improvements, and ensuring all haulage equipment is maintained to the highest operational and statutory standards.
This position is central to maintaining the performance of road train and haulage operations, ensuring alignment between maintenance execution, production requirements, and safety expectations.
WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING
Leadership & Team Management
Lead and supervise HD Mechanics, Boilermakers/Welders, Service Persons, Auto Electricians, Store Persons, and Trades Assistants across haulage maintenance operations.
Provide day‐to‐day direction, coaching, and performance management of maintenance crews.
Ensure effective workforce planning including rostering, leave management, and coverage for operational continuity.
Drive accountability, performance standards, and positive team culture across all maintenance activities.
Support training, VOC compliance, and capability development of frontline teams.
Safety Leadership & WHS Compliance
Ensure all maintenance activities comply with the Work Health and Safety Act 2020 (WA) and site safety systems.
Demonstrate visible safety leadership through field interactions, toolbox talks, and workplace inspections.
Ensure compliance with high‐risk work procedures including isolations, confined space, working at heights, and hot work.
Participate in incident investigations and ensure corrective actions are effectively implemented and closed out.
Promote hazard identification, reporting, and proactive risk management.
Ensure contractor compliance with site safety, induction, and access requirements.
Maintenance Execution & Reliability
Oversee daily and weekly execution of haulage fleet maintenance including prime movers, trailers, dollies, water carts, and support equipment.
Ensure preventative maintenance schedules are completed on time and defect management is effectively prioritised.
Supervise tyre management activities including inspections, changeouts, and compliance practices.
Drive defect elimination and reliability improvement initiatives in collaboration with engineering teams.
Conduct regular field inspections to ensure maintenance quality, safety, and housekeeping standards are met.
Stakeholder Engagement
Work closely with Mining Operations, Processing, HSE, Supply Chain, and external contractors to ensure fleet availability meets production requirements.
Maintain strong working relationships with internal stakeholders and service providers.
Communicate operational constraints, equipment status, and maintenance priorities effectively across teams.
Reporting & Performance Management
Monitor and report on fleet availability, breakdowns, maintenance performance, and compliance metrics.
Provide accurate 24‐hour operational and maintenance updates to the Haulage Maintenance Superintendent.
Lead toolbox meetings and maintenance team communications.
Ensure accurate and timely feedback into maintenance systems (AMT/SAP or equivalent).
Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, cost, and equipment reliability.
ABOUT YOU
You are a hands‐on maintenance leader with strong technical knowledge of heavy haulage or mobile equipment and a proven ability to manage frontline teams in a mining environment.
Qualifications
* Trade qualification in Heavy Mobile Equipment (HD Mechanic, Auto Electrician, or equivalent).
* Current WA C Class Driver's Licence.
Skills & Experience
* Experience in haulage, mobile maintenance, or heavy equipment maintenance supervision.
* Strong understanding of preventive maintenance systems and fleet reliability principles.
* Experience managing frontline maintenance teams and contractors.
* Strong WHS knowledge including high‐risk work controls and compliance requirements.
* Familiarity with SAP, AMT, or similar maintenance management systems.
* Ability to prioritise workloads and respond effectively to operational demands.
* Strong leadership and people management skills.
* Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement ability.
* Ability to drive accountability and maintain high performance standards.
* Strong focus on safety, quality, and operational discipline.
