We are seeking an experienced Accounting professional to join our team as a Senior Accountant. The successful candidate will play a critical role in ensuring the financial integrity of our general ledgers and accounting records, while maintaining compliance with US GAAP and IFRS.
Key Responsibilities
* Ensure Compliance: Ensure that all accounting processes adhere to Peabody safety policies and practices.
* Maintain Financial Integrity: Maintain the financial integrity of general ledgers and accounting records for Peabody Australia operations, ensuring compliance with US GAAP and IFRS.
* Oversee Revenue Recognition: Oversee accurate revenue and expense recognition for physical export transactions; prepare and maintain margin reports in collaboration with traders, schedulers, and risk management.
* Assist with Financial Reporting: Assist with month-end mark-to-market accounting for financial instruments, including foreign exchange hedges.
* Apply Foreign Currency Knowledge: Apply knowledge of foreign currency transactions, including remeasurement and recognition of gains/losses.
* Support Accounting Functions: Support accounting for US export physical trading activities and assist Treasury with weekly cash forecasting.
* Complete Monthly Reporting: Complete monthly financial and management reporting, journal entries, reconciliations, and ensure adherence to deadlines.
* Joint Venture Accounting: Assist with joint venture accounting, fixed asset register maintenance, and invoicing (intercompany and external).
* Contribute to Royalty Calculations: Contribute to royalty calculations, take-or-pay assessments, amortisations, government reporting, and accruals.
* SOCX Compliance: Ensure compliance with SOX controls and internal control frameworks.
* Continuous Improvement: Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities.
About You
* Education: Bachelor's degree in commerce/accounting or related field.
* Qualifications: CA/CPA qualification or near completion.
* Experience: Proven experience working as an Accountant in a Professional Services firm or in Commercial accounting roles.
* US GAAP and IFRS: General understanding of US GAAP and IFRS principles.
* Communication Skills: Ability to manage internal and external relationships through effective verbal and written communication.
* Technical Skills: Strong Excel skills advantageous.
* Problem-Solving Skills: Demonstrated problem-solving skills to quickly and effectively resolve issues.
* Organizational Skills: Excellent organizational skills, including the ability to meet deadlines and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
