The Environmental Division operates a modern commercial laboratory in Brisbane (Stafford) equipped with the latest analytical technology. We seek experienced Laboratory Technicians who have recently completed a Science Degree or TAFE laboratory certification and can apply their practical laboratory experience to deliver quality results on time while maintaining client relationships. These roles are fast‐paced and require speed with accuracy. Hospitality experience juggling multiple tasks is desirable.
The day to day
* Preparation and analysis of soil, water, and sediment – weighing, digesting, titrating, or solvent extraction of samples
* Ensuring that preparation and analytical procedures and associated tasks are conducted in accordance with ALS Quality Work Instructions
* Organising designated tasks to maximise daily efficiencies
* Completing all tasks within both the timeframe set by the Supervisor and the relevant analysis standard
* Highlighting anomalies in results and sample type/behaviour
The Essentials
* A genuine interest in the Science industry
* Either TAFE or University qualifications
* A desire to work in a high‐throughput, client‐focused environment, with preference given to those with previous commercial laboratory experience
* Excellent attention to detail, organisational and time management skills
* Dedication to good laboratory practices with regard to quality of results and health and safety
* Flexibility to work public holidays and weekend shifts if required
* Willingness to be cross trained in other sections of the laboratory
* Dedication to go the extra mile, be solutions driven and ensure there is no compromise on quality
Additional skills and interests
* A demonstrated interest or personal hobby in areas such as computer building, circuitry, automation, Excel macros, scripting, or 3D printing
* Coding or programming capability (e.g. VBA, Python, R, SQL or similar)
* Exposure to or interest in robotics, AI, process automation or digital optimisation
Eligibility
