Territory Generation is the largest producer of electricity in the Northern Territory with assets from Alice Springs to Darwin. We use gas, diesel, and solar technologies to provide power across the Territory.
Your New Role
As an Operator/Maintainer Electrical, you will provide a high level of technical expertise in industrial mechanical maintenance, performing preventative and corrective maintenance activities and modifications on industrial Gas Turbine and Reciprocating equipment associated with critical power generating plant operating on natural gas and diesel fuels.
Your accountabilities include:
* Carry out duties in accordance with Territory Generation's safety, environmental and quality policies, safety principles, corporate values and strategies.
* Operate and maintain gas turbine/diesel reciprocating engines and electrical power generation equipment.
* Manage and investigate critical plant emergency incidents, complete plant failure/condition technical reports and collect data for plant reliability and efficiency assessments.
* Conduct site wide in-service checks and operation of all critical auxiliary balance of plant including liquid fuel storage/forwarding, natural gas filtering/heating and metering, waste oil collection, and fire support systems.
* Responsible for multiple energy source isolations including High Voltage electricity and HP natural gas in conjunction with issuing/controlling a permit to work system for multiple high-risk work activities.
* Comply with manufacturers' and Territory Generation procedures and recommendations for maintenance activity.
* Contribute to the development and maintenance of site records to ensure accurate historical information for maintenance purposes.
* Undertake typical housekeeping duties
* Participate in an on-call roster
Your skills & experience:
* Relevant AQF Cert III (trade) electrical trade or equivalent
* Ability to obtain required unrestricted NT electrical licence.
* Heavy industry exposure with proven ability to analyse industrial technical systems, DC systems, DCS systems. Assess, report and repair defects to a high standard. Demonstrated ability to isolate multiple energy source and manage permit to work systems
* Current driver's licence or ability to obtain, and a willingness to travel to other Territory Generation sites, as required
* Demonstrated skills in the effective use of information technology, records, spreadsheets and Computerised Maintenance Management Systems and ability to learn and operate computer based maintenance, stores and office management systems.
* Understanding of, and a strong commitment to, occupational health and safety, quality and environmental principles in an industrial environment with the ability to carry out duties in accordance with Territory Generation's policies and corporate values and strategies.
* High level written and oral communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with people of diverse cultures whilst working as part of a team and independently to achieve operational strategic objectives.
* Ability to work participate in the on-call after hour's roster.
* Be self-motivated, possess an excellent work ethic and have the flexibility to work under pressure in a small team to meet deadlines and achieve operation strategic objectives. A demonstrated ability to learn with a strong continuous focus on self-progression
Desirable skills & experience:
* NT Gasfitter type B Appliance, High Risk Licences (CSE/BA, Forklift, Heights, EWP), High Voltage Operator (HVO) trained, Current senior first aid or ability and willingness to obtain.
* Cert III instrumentation.
* Current hazardous area electrical installation, inspection and maintenance certification.
* Contractor management and supervision experience.
