We're seeking an engaging and collaborative Teacher Librarian to join our Senior School Library Services team. This role offers the opportunity to inspire a love of reading, lead information literacy initiatives and partner with teaching staff to deliver rich, research-driven learning experiences.
About The Role
We invite applications from inspired and proactive Teacher Librarians. This is an ongoing, full-time position commencing as soon as practicable, by negotiation.
Reporting to the Head of Senior School Library Services, the successful candidate will contribute to the delivery of high-quality teaching and learning across Years 7–12 while supporting the library as a hub for independent and collaborative learning.
You will work closely with teaching staff to design and deliver research-based learning experiences, promote literacy in all its forms, and cultivate a culture of curiosity and lifelong learning. The role also involves developing and maintaining a contemporary, relevant library collection and contributing to policy development and library service innovation.
Key Responsibilities
* Collaborate with teaching staff to plan and deliver research-based units of work
* Promote literacy, including information and digital literacy, across the school
* Foster a love of reading and inquiry among students and staff
* Create an engaging and inclusive library environment
* Develop and maintain a relevant and accessible collection of resources
* Contribute to library policy development and strategic initiatives
* Support students' academic and pastoral development
Qualifications and Requirements
* Relevant teaching qualifications and current registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT)
* Qualifications in teacher librarianship (recognised by ALIA)
* Demonstrated experience in secondary education (Years 7–12)
* Strong understanding of contemporary curriculum and research practices
* Excellent skills in the use of learning technologies and digital resources
* Highly developed research and information management skills
* Ability to collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary teams
* First Aid and Anaphylaxis certification (or willingness to obtain)
