Community Engagement & Job Coach – Transition to Work
Location: East Gippsland & Wellington
Type: Full time, Permanent (negotiable)
About Us
Workforce Plus creates innovative pathways into sustainable employment. Working alongside jobseekers, employers, and community partners, we empower people to discover their unique strengths and actively choose their future.
We proudly deliver the Transition to Work (TtW) program across Gippsland, supporting young people aged 15–25 to build skills, confidence, and capability while preparing for meaningful employment or further education.
Our team is passionate about removing barriers, creating opportunities, and strengthening local communities. We work side-by-side with young people, schools, employers, and service providers to help every participant find their path forward.
About the Role
We’re seeking a dynamic and community-minded Community Engagement & Job Coach to join our Transition to Work team.
This unique hybrid role blends direct participant coaching with community outreach and engagement activities — ensuring that young people not only connect with the program, but thrive once they’re in it.
Reporting to the Team Leader, you will:
- Proactively identify and engage new participants who are eligible for Transition to Work.
- Build robust referral networks with schools, community groups, and local services.
- Host outreach and engagement activities that raise awareness of the program.
- Provide one-on-one coaching to young people to help them build confidence, skills, and independence.
- Work with participants to set goals, overcome barriers, and prepare for work, training, or further education.
- Partner with local employers, industry, and training providers to create meaningful opportunities.
- Support participants through to employment placement and sustained engagement.
This is a KPI-driven role, focused on community engagement, participant outcomes, and long-term employment results.
Location and FTE
This role will be based between our Sale, Bairnsdale, and Lakes Entrance offices, with outreach to Orbost once a fortnight and Wellington and East Gippsland regions as required.
- Part-time or full-time considered (0.8–1.0 FTE).
About You
You will thrive in this role if you:
- Are confident engaging with young people and community stakeholders.
- Have experience in youth work, community engagement, employment services, or education.
- Are self-motivated, organised, and comfortable working toward clear targets.
- Bring strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- Have the ability to network with local employers, schools, and training providers.
- Are passionate about helping young people discover their strengths and achieve independence.
- Hold a current driver’s licence and are comfortable with outreach travel across the region.
