The Role
Macquarie University Health (MUH) is seeking Unaccredited Medical Registrars (PGY3 or higher / RACP members) to join our Doctors in Training Program to provide consultation and supervision to the junior medical staff on a week-on week-off roster. During weekdays the role will help junior medical staff manage complicated medical scenarios during work hours by providing advice and occasional clinical reviews. When rostered for after hours or weekends, the role will also engage in ward-based duties. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to:
* Be assigned to experienced RACP examiners each term to support them through a comprehensive exam preparation program
* Get connected with study groups outside MUH to assist with RACP exam preparation
* Attend practice RACP exams and clinical preparations at other hospitals in NSW
* Attend specialty and subspecialty clinics based on their interest
* Work closely with highly regarded leaders in various subspecialties of internal medicine, including Oncology, Endocrinology, Cardiology, Respiratory, Geriatrics to name a few.
* Develop valuable connection to assist career progression
* Have access to the Clinical Trials Unit via research leaders at Macquarie University
* Access opportunities to publish research articles with world-renowned leaders
* Explore opportunities to advance their academic career at Macquarie University
* Contribute to educational activities with MUH
Medical Subspecialties at MUH include:
* Cardiology. Including subspecialty services:
* Electrophysiology
* Advanced interventional Cardiology (TAVI)
* Structural Heart
* Pulmonary Hypertension
* Oncology
* Respiratory Medicine, including subspecialty services:
* Interventional Pulmonology
* Bronchiectasis
* Interstitial Lung Disease
* Airways disease
* Neurology, including motorneuron diseases
* Nephrology
* Endocrinology
* Gastroenterology
* Rheumatology and Immunology
Every effort will be made to support the candidate on their journey to pass the FRACP exams and become a fellow of the college. The support will be tailored to the candidate's interests and needs and could potentially include support for the written exam, helping them prepare for the clinical exam or improving their chances of getting into a subspecialty program by creating the necessary networks and including them in research studies.

* General Registration as a medical practitioner in Australia (please upload AHPRA Certificate) - This is an Essential Selection Criteria
* Demonstrated understanding of the patient's perspective and ability to communicate key information to the patient and carers
* Demonstrated prior experience as a medical registrar in teaching hospitals
* Demonstrated ambition to further your career as a physician
* Membership of RACP and evidence of intention to obtain fellowship
* A strong commitment to multidisciplinary approaches to clinical care and ability to work as part of a team.
* Completion of ALS2 desirable or willingness to undertake the same
