Site and Service
The Port Augusta Hospital and Regional Health Service is a large regional hospital offering emergency, general and surgical, maternity, outpatient, outreach and speciality services. With 58 beds, including specialised beds, chemotherapy services, a renal dialysis unit and a paediatric department, it is the largest outside Adelaide. Staff work in close partnership with community health services and Aboriginal health providers to ensure optimum care for all community areas.
About The Role
As an Assistant in Nursing, you will provide essential support to Enrolled and Registered Nurses/Midwives in delivering high‐quality patient care. Your role includes assisting with general nursing duties, maintaining a safe and comfortable environment, and contributing to the smooth operation of the ward or unit. Working under supervision, you will be accountable for your actions and a key part of the broader healthcare team achieving excellent outcomes.
About You
* Be enrolled as a student in an undergraduate program in nursing or midwifery (state year, e.g., 3rd year) and completed required training.
* Be employed on the basis that the person is or will be undertaking a course approved by the Registration Authority for Enrolled Nurse preparation.
* Hold a Certificate III or IV in one of the following health‐related disciplines:
o Basic Health Care
o Aged Care
o Health Services Assistance (including elective units recommended for Acute care)
o Home and Community Care
o Individual Support Work
o Or other nationally recognised courses approved within the healthcare setting by agreement of DHA and the ANMF.
* Experience, within the boundaries of your education and skill preparation, in the provision of nursing/midwifery care in a healthcare setting in accordance with the appropriate standards of practice.
