THE POSITION:
To assist in all aspects of the operation of the Albury Waste Management Centre.
Responsibilities
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Assist in the coordination of an orderly approach to waste disposal by providing a high level of customer service and guidance to customers and visitors, direct and supervise waste disposal by public and contractors
* General labouring duties as required.
* Operate all plant located at the Waste Management Centre in accordance with the manufacturers' requirements, licence conditions, WorkCover regulations and council policies.
* Perform daily checks on plant and machinery to ensure mechanical, safety and operational compliance.
* Operate and perform preventative maintenance on all plant located at the Waste Management Centre in accordance with the manufacturers' requirements, licence conditions, WorkCover regulations and council policies.
* Operate and perform tasks related to tipping faces,
* Spreading and compaction of waste, clearing and loading of pushpit waste, monitoring and decontamination of material stockpiles.
* Direct and assist the delivery of material stores and also arrange loading of these materials
* Undertake maintenance and repair of landfill infrastructure including cells, roads and drains.
* Be responsible for increasing the level of waste diversion and minimisation of material deposited into landfill.
* Undertake regular housekeeping to ensure the site is maintained to a high standard including but not limited to all vegetated areas, entry of site and gatehouse, litter control and leachate areas
* Perform other tasks or duties as directed by the Supervisor which are within the limits of the employee's skill, competence and training.
* Observe requirements of the WHS Legislation, relevant to the job and adhere to AlburyCity Policies and Procedures regarding WHS.

EMPLOYMENT CONDITIONS:
* Based on 38 hours per week, working 38 hours across a 7- day spread, with actual days and times being worked in accordance with facility roster.
* This position is covered under an annualised salary arrangement providing a salary, which includes payment for;
o Payment for on-call (1 week in 8) on a roster basis
o Level 2 Adverse Working Conditions Allowance
o Monday to Friday shifts at ordinary time
o Saturday shifts - payment of a 50% penalty in addition to the ordinary hourly rate
o Sunday shifts - payment of a 100% penalty in addition to the ordinary hourly rate
* The above working arrangement falls with the definition of a 7-day rotating roster under the Local Government (State) Award. Accordingly, there is an entitlement to accrue 5 weeks of annual leave each year.
* Hours additional to those rostered may be required, depending on operational requirements. These will be by agreement and be paid at the appropriate rates.
* This position may be required to be on call outside normal working hours on a roster basis. This will be in agreement with the supervisor and will attract the appropriate allowance
* This position requires you to wear a compulsory uniform as per AlburyCity's Our People Dress Code Standards. Our People are required to present a smart and professional image to the public at all times including when in public and when working remotely.
* This position will be provided with vaccination against the following infectious diseases:
o Hepatitis A
o Hepatitis B
* This position involves working in a predominantly outdoor environment where a varying range of temperatures, weather conditions and walking surfaces may be experienced. The position requires a moderate level of aerobic and physical fitness to undertake regular physical activities such as walking, lifting, pulling, pushing along with the capacity to maintain normal manual handling tasks across the work day - depending on the nature of the tasks undertaken. The use of relevant work method statements and appropriate WHS standards are an integral part of the role. A full functional and medical assessment is required for this position.
* This position is subject to alcohol and other drug testing
* This position is subject to preemployment and ongoing audiometric (hearing) assessment in accordance with AlburyCity Procedures
* This position is located at Albury Waste Management Centre (Albury Landfill), Centaur Road, Lavington, with occasional visits to external sites/depots and AlburyCity Administration Building as required.
ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:
* Heavy Rigid Driver's Licence (compulsory to have and maintain)
* Front End Loader Licence or competency (compulsory to have and maintain)
* Excavator licence or competency (compulsory to have and maintain)
* Construction Induction Certificate
DESIRABLE CRITERIA:
* Traffic Controller's Certificate
* Forklift Licence
* Experience operating a traxcavator
EXPERIENCE:
* Experience operating large plant and equipment
* Experience working in a civil construction environment.
SPECIALIST KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
