The Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission (the Commission) was formed on 1 January 2019. We work to improve the lives of older people by maintaining the integrity of the aged care system.

As the single independent regulator of Australian Government aged care services, we offer a variety of interesting and challenging jobs across most capital cities.

It is an exciting time to join the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission, with major reforms underway to improve aged care in Australia. You will be contributing to our role as the national regulator to safeguard and protect older Australians receiving aged care services.

Knowledge Management and Operational Policy and Support sections

The Knowledge Management and Operational Policy and Support (KMOP) sections contribute to the Commission’s strategic purpose to uphold the rights of older people receiving aged care and protect and enhance their safety, health, wellbeing, and quality of life by:

* providing advice on whole of Commission and function specific policy
* developing guidance and tools that drives how we work
* explaining how to apply broad policy within all regulatory operational environments
* contributing to the development and implementation of regulatory and aged care program reform, including policy and process development to operationalise legislative reform
* delivering a more modern, sustainable knowledge management approach to the process of identifying, organising, storing and disseminating information within the Commission
* championing the Commission’s 'one source of truth' approach to ensure staff access the most up-to-date content on the Knowledge Hub.

About the Role

Reporting to the Assistant Director, the Senior Policy Officer collaborates with internal and external stakeholders to:

* design, refine and implement high-quality internal policy, knowledge resources and procedures that support best-practice regulation
* provide high-level strategic and operational policy advice and solutions to ensure best practice, quality assurance, and continuous improvement are embedded in our regulatory processes and decision-making.

Position Duties

* Develop and provide expert policy advice on more complex areas of policy and contribute to continuous improvements in operational policy and processes
* Conduct research and analysis of complex legislation and data to inform decisions and policy
* Draft clear, evidence-based policy documents, communications and knowledge content for review and publication
* Develop and support complex relationships with internal and external stakeholders
* Liaise with internal and external stakeholders, participate in committees and forums, including anticipating and responding to their needs and expectations
* Have significant responsibility for the supervision and development of APS4/5 staff; build team capacity through coaching, performance feedback; and encouraging career development
* Contribute to a positive and inclusive team culture, demonstrating integrity, accountability, and leadership

Position Eligibility Requirements

To be successful in this role you will need to demonstrate the following:

* Demonstrated ability to anticipate and address policy challenges, applying sound judgment and risk management to deliver effective solutions.
* Ability to effectively communicate complex information, both verbally and in writing, in a clear, concise and accurate manner using plain language to diverse audiences
* Demonstrated advanced organisational skills, managing competing priorities to deliver quality outcomes within deadlines.
* Demonstrated interpersonal skills to build and sustain collaborative relationships with team members, across the organisation and with external stakeholders to achieve shared goals.
* Work effectively and autonomously as part of a geographically dispersed team, providing leadership, guidance, and fostering collaboration.
* Demonstrated advanced proficiency in digital tools and systems including the Microsoft office 365 suite, SharePoint and Microsoft teams, to support efficient and effective work practices.

Position Notes

* Salary offered will be between $96,503 - $108,869 per annum depending on skills and experience. In addition, 15.4% superannuation will be paid.

* Non-ongoing opportunity will be offered for an irregular/intermittent term. Opportunities will be offered for varying periods up to 12 months with the option to extend to a total of 24 months.
