About the Role
We are seeking an Indigenous Employment & Engagement Specialist to deliver end-to-end recruitment and employment outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander jobseekers.
This is a hands-on, autonomous role combining employer engagement, business development, recruitment, mentoring and post-placement support. You will manage your own portfolio of employers, candidates and contracts, acting as a trusted partner to both jobseekers and industry.
You will play a key role in identifying employment opportunities, preparing candidates for success, supporting sustainable placements and ensuring compliance with relevant funding and reporting requirements.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage a portfolio of employers, candidates and contracts
* Build and maintain strong relationships with local employers and industry partners
* Identify and develop new employment opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander candidates
* Deliver full end-to-end recruitment, including advertising, sourcing, shortlisting, screening, interview preparation and reference checking
* Reverse market candidates to employers and negotiate mutually beneficial outcomes
* Provide mentoring and post-placement support to ensure sustainable employment outcomes
* Support candidates with work-readiness, referrals and local services where required
* Ensure compliance with funding, eligibility, claims and reporting requirements
* Maintain accurate and timely records across client and candidate systems
* Achieve placement, outcome and performance targets
* Represent Indigenous Workstars at meetings, industry forums and community events as required
About You
* You are a motivated and culturally capable employment professional who enjoys working across community and industry.
* You will bring:
* Experience in employment services, recruitment, workforce development or employer engagement
* Demonstrated ability to work effectively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, with cultural awareness and respect
* Strong relationship-building, communication and negotiation skills
* Confidence managing multiple priorities, targets and deadlines
* Experience delivering end-to-end recruitment or employment outcomes (highly regarded)
* Understanding of government-funded employment programs and compliance requirements (desirable)
* Strong organisational skills and confidence using Microsoft Office and client management systems
* Relevant qualifications are welcomed but not essential — lived experience and demonstrated capability are highly valued.
