As the Spatial Insight Officer, you will deliver high‐quality spatial information and insights that support Council's short, medium and long‐term planning and decision‐making. The role focuses on proactive, customer‐focused services that help the organisation use spatial data effectively.
Key Accountabilities
* Manage spatial information and analytics requests to meet Council and community needs
* Provide expert spatial advice and modelling to support planning, assets, development and place‐based outcomes
* Support and improve Council's spatial and digital information systems, including administration, data management and user support
* Deliver practical training to build staff capability and maximise use of spatial information systems
* Maintain accurate and up‐to‐date land, property, and cadastral data across Council systems
* Ensure data quality by integrating, validating and maintaining spatial and non‐spatial datasets
* Prepare clear reports and advice to support decision‐making and organisational priorities
Qualifications
* Qualifications in spatial or geographic information systems, or a related field, or equivalent experience (Certificate IV desirable
* Experience working with cadastral data, land titles and property addressing
* Knowledge of NSW planning legislation and related regulatory processes
* Understanding of how local government functions use and rely on spatial information
* Strong analytical and problem‐solving skills, with the ability to work with complex spatial and non‐spatial data
* Clear written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare practical documentation and technical report
* Well, developed organisational skills, with the ability to manage priorities and meet deadline
* Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively within a team
* A commitment to continuous improvement, including enhancing processes, data quality and service delivery
* Willingness to learn new systems, technologies and spatial tools
* A customer‐focused approach when providing spatial advice, support and training to internal stakeholders
