The HaulX Collision Avoidance System (CAS) is a safety-critical product designed to significantly reduce collision risk across mining operations involving heavy machinery and light vehicles. This role sits at the centre of Fortescue's Zero Harm ambition, owning the evolution of a proven baseline product while defining the next generation of collision risk mitigation capability across diverse operating environments.
As Product Manager – CAS, you will be accountable for product vision, roadmap and requirements, ensuring safety outcomes, reliability and operational usability remain core to every decision. Acting as the product authority for collision avoidance, you will guide multi-million-dollar investment decisions, working in close partnership with architecture, engineering and operations to deliver a scalable, market-leading product that delivers measurable safety and business value
Key Responsibilities
* Own and maintain the product vision and roadmap for the Collision Avoidance System, ensuring alignment to safety outcomes and business priorities
* Define and prioritise product requirements, translating customer outcomes into clear, testable objectives across hardware and software
* Lead staged capability growth of the existing product baseline to expand safety coverage and operational applicability
* Partner with architects, product owners and engineering teams to ensure product intent is clearly understood and delivered
* Engage operational, safety and technical stakeholders to validate collision risk scenarios and ensure product alignment
* Act as the voice of the customer in product and leadership forums
* Track and optimise product performance across safety effectiveness, reliability and adoption metrics
* Ensure investment decisions deliver strong return on investment and exceed business hurdle rates
Qualifications and Experience
* Minimum 5 years' experience in product management, systems engineering or similar roles in complex software/hardware environments, or 10+ years in mining or safety-critical domains
* Demonstrated experience defining product vision, roadmaps and supporting business cases for safety-critical or operational systems
* Proven ability to deliver outcomes through cross-functional collaboration with engineering, safety and operations
* Experience engaging directly with site-based operational stakeholders in fast-paced environments
* Strong understanding of system-level safety requirements, verification and validation frameworks (desirable)
* Exposure to vehicle safety, collision risk mitigation or industrial control systems (desirable)
* Familiarity with mining production environments and relevant safety or regulatory frameworks (desirable)
* Strong stakeholder management, analytical and prioritisation capability with a focus on value-driven delivery
