SHIFTS: Staff Specialist – Cairns – Remote East • 07.12.25 – 31.12.25 with a high possibility of extension o Minimum 6 week booking o Fly-in, Fly-out position to the Torres and Cape serving remote communities (Torres Strait, Northern Peninsula and Cooktown/Hopevale/Wujal Wujal). The typical schedule is 1 week on outreach and the other based from cairns V/C o Monday to Friday 0800 – 1630 - travel can occasionally fall outside of these hours during outreach o Supported by registrar and GP with advanced skills MH o Outreach accommodation and travel is arranged by the service Staff Specialist – Cairns – Community General Adult • 13.10.25 – 17.10.25 (returning locums considered only) • 10.12.25 – 31.12.25 o This position is with adult community-based teams within the Mental Health Service. The position requires the Consultant Psychiatrist to provide relief as required across these teams, who provide a wide range of MHAOD community-based support across Cairns and Surrounds. The services include telephone-based intake, acute crisis support, rehabilitation, perinatal and continuing community management of people with serious mental illness. o Monday to Friday 0800 – 1630 Staff Specialist – Cairns – Remote West • 03.11.25-31.12.25 with high possibility of extension o Minimum 6 week booking o Fly-in, Fly-out position to the Torres and Cape serving remote communities (Indigenous communities of Aurukun, Kowanyama, Pormpuraaw, Lockhart River, Napranum, Mapoon and townships of Weipa and Coen). The typical schedule is 1 week on outreach and the other based from Cairns V/C. There is 1 registrar with this team who typically travels with the consultant. o Hours are Monday to Friday 0800 - 1630, travel can occasionally fall outside of these hours during outreach. o Outreach accommodation and travel is arranged by the service. Staff Specialist – Cairns – Inpatient North • 03.11.25 – 07.11.25 (returning locums considered only) • 01.12.25 – 05.12.25 (returning locums considered only) o Typically, 3 juniors to a consultant (1 reg, 2xrmo/intern). Pt loads of around 11-15 per team. There are 4 inpatient teams in total. The ward operates off geographically based teams (so they allocate patients based on the suburb they live in), which means all teams attend to all levels of acuity.
