Quadrant Rail Consulting (QRC) is a boutique consultancy specialising in rail operations, asset management, environmental planning, and sustainability. Our Environment division is growing, and we're looking for someone who can hit the ground running to take on environmental planning and impact assessment work, particularly in NSW. City based or regional candidates encouraged to apply.
The Role
We are seeking a mid-level Environmental Planner/Consultant with proven NSW environmental assessment experience. This role is hands-on, managing impact assessments and environmental management documentation for infrastructure projects, including rail, roads, waste, and local government works. You'll work closely with clients, regulators, and stakeholders to deliver approvals efficiently and to a high standard.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead and prepare environmental assessments (REFs, EMPs, EIS) in line with legislation and guidelines.
* Manage environmental approvals processes and liaise with councils, state agencies, and stakeholders.
* Provide technical advice on environmental factors, including but not limited to biodiversity, heritage, and ensure environmental compliance.
* Undertake client meetings, site inspections and coordinate specialist inputs.
* Support business development by contributing to proposals and building client relationships.
What We're Looking For
* Tertiary qualification in Environmental Planning, Environmental Science, or related field.
* Ideally 3 to 7 years' experience in environmental consultancy, environmental planning or a similar role that meets the responsibilities.
* Strong NSW experience highly desirable – other States/Territories an advantage.
* Demonstrated ability to independently manage environmental assessments from start to finish.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong attention to detail.
* Experience in QRC's growth areas is highly valued, including:
* Sustainability and Infrastructure Sustainability (IS) ratings
* Climate change resilience and risk assessments
* Ecology, natural capital, biodiversity/nature-related credits, and nature positive strategies
* Full Australian working rights and C-class driver's licence.
