Empower Local Health Teams and Strengthen Remote Primary Care
We’re seeking a full-time Health Centre Manager to lead operations at one of our remote clinics in Ngukurr or Mataranka, NT.
Reporting to the Clinical Operations Manager, you’ll oversee day-to-day clinic operations, lead a multidisciplinary team, and deliver culturally safe, community-focused healthcare. This is a hands-on leadership role that balances clinical coordination, staff development, and operational excellence.
Key responsibilities include:
* Delivering culturally safe, comprehensive primary health care
* Leading and mentoring staff, including Aboriginal Health Practitioners
* Managing rosters, administration, pharmacy, and clinic resources
* Overseeing patient systems, records, and care coordination (Communicare)
* Driving Continuous Quality Improvement and accreditation compliance
* Collaborating with partners to strengthen health outcomes
* Promoting health literacy and addressing social determinants
* Managing clinic budgets and participating in the on-call roster
Your First Few Weeks – What to Expect
At Sunrise, leadership begins with connection. In your first month, you’ll:
* Travel to Ngukurr or Mataranka and immerse yourself in the community
* Meet clinic staff, board members, and local leaders
* Observe current operations and models of care
* Establish visibility, trust, and team rapport
* Begin identifying strengths and opportunities for service improvement
This foundational period sets you up for success, grounded in purpose, people, and place.
The Person We Need to Champion Community Care
You’ll need to be a Registered Nurse or Aboriginal Health Practitioner, with AHPRA registration, and hold:
* A manual driver licence
* First Aid Certificate
* NT Ochre Card
* A National Criminal History Check
* Up-to-date vaccinations to work with vulnerable people
You’ll also bring:
* Broad experience in primary health care, ideally in remote Aboriginal contexts
* Strong team leadership and clinic operations management skills
* Ability to mentor, guide, and build capacity within Indigenous health teams
* Clear written and verbal communication, and stakeholder collaboration
* Understanding of Aboriginal culture and commitment to culturally safe practice
* Familiarity with Communicare and community-controlled health environments
