Due to continued growth and a strong project pipeline, we are seeking a Mechanical Project Engineer to join our Melbourne engineering team.
This role is suited to engineers who enjoy owning mechanical equipment packages within EPCM-style mining and minerals processing projects.
Engineers currently working within engineering consultancies, EPCM contractors or mining project delivery teams will be highly regarded.
The Role
You will play a key role in delivering mechanical engineering packages across mineral processing and bulk materials handling plants.
Typical equipment packages include:
* Crushing and screening circuits
* Grinding and milling equipment
* Pumps, slurry handling and process equipment
* Thickeners and process tanks
* Conveyors and bulk materials handling systems
You will work closely with process, piping, structural and electrical engineers, as well as equipment vendors, ensuring equipment packages are delivered to specification, schedule and project requirements.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage mechanical equipment packages across study, design and project delivery phases
* Prepare and review equipment specifications and datasheets
* Coordinate equipment vendors and technical documentation
* Conduct technical bid evaluations and procurement support
* Review vendor drawings, calculations and technical submissions
* Monitor vendor performance and delivery schedules
* Interface with multidisciplinary engineering teams
* Support equipment inspections, FATs and commissioning activities
* Provide structured reporting and progress updates to the project delivery team
About You
To be successful in this role you will have:
* Degree qualified Mechanical Engineer
* 5–10 years experience in mining, minerals processing or heavy industry projects
* Experience working within engineering consultancies, EPCM contractors or mining project delivery teams
* Experience managing mechanical equipment packages
* Exposure to mineral processing plants or bulk materials handling systems
* Strong vendor coordination and technical review capability
* Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary engineering teams
Experience with equipment such as crushers, mills, conveyors, pumps, thickeners, slurry systems and bulk materials handling equipment will be highly regarded.
