Coote Family Lawyers
Posted: 26 February
Offer description

Coote Family Lawyers is seeking an experienced and client-focused Conveyancing Clerk to join our high profile practice in Camberwell. This full-time position offers the opportunity to work within a respected family law firm where conveyancing often intersects with sensitive family matters, including separation and property settlements.

About the role

As our Conveyancing Clerk, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality conveyancing services across a broad range of matters. You will manage files from inception to completion, support clients through the property transaction process, and work closely with our Conveyancing Partner, Annelis Bos, and the broader legal team.

This role requires a strong understanding of Victorian conveyancing legislation, excellent organisational skills, and the ability to communicate with empathy and professionalism, particularly where matters arise from separation or relationship breakdown.

Key responsibilities

You will:

• Act as a primary point of contact for conveyancing clients, including those navigating sensitive personal circumstances

• Manage conveyancing files end-to-end in accordance with legislative and professional obligations

• Prepare and review Contracts of Sale, Section 32 Vendor Statements, Section 27 Early Release of Deposit requests, and Land Registry documentation

• Liaise with clients, real estate agents, lenders, and other stakeholders to ensure smooth matter progression

• Work collaboratively with solicitors across Family Law and Wills & Estates to provide seamless service delivery

• Accurately record time, meet billable targets, and assist with compliant billing practices

• Support general administrative requirements including diary management, issuing accounts, and maintaining safe custody documents

About you

To succeed in this role, you will have:

• Strong working knowledge of Victorian conveyancing legislation, including the Sale of Land Act 1962 (Vic) and Transfer of Land Act 1958 (Vic)

• Demonstrated experience managing a billable conveyancing caseload

• Excellent attention to detail and file management skills

• The ability to communicate complex legal processes clearly and compassionately

• A high level of professionalism, discretion, and client care

• A minimum of 3-5 years of conveyancing experience

A qualification in conveyancing, such as an Advanced Diploma of Conveyancing (BSB60220), Diploma of Conveyancing, or another recognised Victorian legal or property-related qualification, will be viewed favourably, but is not essential.

Experience in family law-related conveyancing matters, including property transfers arising from separation, divorce, or consent orders, will be highly regarded.
