An opportunity now exists for a suitably qualified Accountant to join our Finance team on a full-time permanent basis.
Your New Role
Reporting directly to the Finance Manager, you will be responsible for delivering professional accounting services across the business. The role requires the application of accounting principles, independent professional judgment, and compliance with Australian Accounting Standards and taxation legislation.
This role is a professional accounting position requiring a high level of technical expertise, analytical capability, and independent judgment.
Key Responsibilities
* Prepare and maintain general ledger accounts in accordance with Australian Accounting Standards (AASB).
* Produce monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including balance sheets, profit & loss statements, and cash flow reports.
* Perform month-end and year-end close processes, including journals, accruals, prepayments, and reconciliations.
* Conduct financial analysis, variance analysis, and reporting to management.
* Ensure compliance with Australian taxation requirements, including:
* GST / BAS preparation and reconciliation
* Payroll tax and statutory obligations
* Assist with budget preparation, forecasting, and financial planning.
* Oversee and review accounts payable and receivable functions, ensuring accuracy and internal controls.
Manage fixed assets register, depreciation schedules, and capital expenditure reporting.
Liaise with external auditors, tax agents, and regulatory bodies.
Ensure compliance with internal financial controls, policies, and procedures.
Work with the sales teams to support collection processes.
Communicate with customers and suppliers on financial and general account enquiries.
Provide general administration and specialist project support to the sales and management teams as required.
Develop effective internal procedures for the management of customer accounts, collections and escalation of issues.
Support continuous improvement of accounting systems and processes.
Provide financial advice and insights to management to support business strategy.
About You (Skills & Qualifications)
The successful applicant will demonstrate the following:
Essential Requirements
* Bachelor's degree or higher qualification in accounting or a closely related field.
* Minimum 2–3 years of relevant professional accounting experience.
* Strong knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards (AASB).
* Practical experience with Australian taxation (GST/BAS).
* High level of proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems.
* Strong analytical, problem-solving, and reporting skills.
* Ability to work autonomously and exercise professional judgment.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
* Demonstrated customer and supplier account management experience.
Highly Desirable
* Membership or eligibility for membership with CPA Australia, CA ANZ, or IPA.
* Experience in a commercial or wholesale business environment.
* Experience supporting audits and regulatory compliance.
