Position Information

Bankstown North Public School is a thriving P3 school located in Southwest Sydney, currently enrolling approximately 400 students. Notably, 95% of our students come from English as an Additional Language and/or Dialect (EAL/D) backgrounds. We also host a special education unit, which includes one class for Autistic students and three classes for students with moderate intellectual disabilities and Autism. Our school is enriched by over 40 different language groups, and we anticipate a stable increase in enrolments due to upcoming local residential developments.

Our dedicated staff is committed to delivering challenging and engaging learning experiences that foster student growth. Collaborative practice and consistent teacher judgement are essential components of our professional learning focus, enabling teachers to continuously enhance their expertise. We value positive partnerships with all stakeholders to support student learning. Our school offers a diverse range of extra-curricular activities, including PPSA, HPGE opportunities, K-6 dance groups, and public speaking/debating opportunities.

EAL/D and Learning and Support teachers collaborate closely with classroom teachers to provide tailored teaching and learning programs. We monitor and assess each student's progress through Personalised Learning and Support Plans (PLAsPs) and Personalised Learning Plans (PLPs) to ensure all students achieve their learning goals.


Selection Criteria

In addition to the general selection criteria, approval to teach infants and/or primary;

* Demonstrated capacity to work as part of an executive team and balance exemplary classroom practice with the complexities of a leadership role.
* Demonstrated ability to lead, evaluate and sustain targeted growth in literacy and numeracy using knowledge of current educational research to inspire high levels of student engagement and improve student learning outcomes.
* Demonstrated capacity to lead and implement successful whole-school wellbeing programs with the proven ability to develop positive, inclusive learning environments.

General Selection Criteria1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy
Conditions

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
