Getting On With Life – GOWLs

-----------------------------------

Trust & Kindness in Action

At Getting On With Life (GOWLs), we don't just provide support, we build long-term relationships and create real, measurable outcomes.

We are a South Australian, community-based NDIS provider working across Adelaide and Whyalla, supporting participants in their homes and community settings.

Our work is grounded in one simple principle: Trust and Kindness in Action.

We are seeking a Community Support Worker who is in this work for the right reasons — someone patient, emotionally intelligent, work within boundaries and is genuinely interested in people.

Why Work With GOWLs? [pronounced 'goals']

We know there are many support worker roles advertised...Here's what makes us different:

Long-Term Participants

We work with participants for years — not weeks. This means consistency, relationship depth and the opportunity to see genuine growth over time.

Long-Term Staff

Our team stays. We invest in people and create cohesion. You are not "just a shift filler" - you are part of a professional team.

Real Outcomes

We are not a "babysitting" service. We embed recovery coaching principles, behaviour frameworks and skill-building into every shift. Our work is intentional, structured and outcome-driven.

Professional Development Budget

We support you to grow. Ongoing training, high-intensity skill development and client-specific education are provided.

Employee Assistance Program (EAP)

Your wellbeing matters. All staff have access to confidential counselling support.

Team Culture

We run structured team meetings, debrief appropriately and support each other in complex situations. You will never be left unsupported.

Values-Driven Leadership

We operate with clear boundaries, ethical practice and genuine care - for both participants and staff.

About the Role

As a Disability Support Worker, you will:

* Support individuals with complex disabilities and/or mental health needs
* Work within Behaviour Support Plans and Recovery frameworks
* Provide structured community access and skill development
* Maintain professional boundaries at all times
* Complete detailed, high-quality shift notes
* Work collaboratively with Recovery Coaches and Team Leads
* Support participants in home and community environments

This role may include:

* Personal care
* Behaviours of concern
* Mobility support
* Emotional regulation support
* Structured skill building

Who We're Looking For

We are not looking for someone who simply "wants hours." We are looking for someone who:

* Is calm under pressure
* Can hold firm, respectful boundaries
* Is patient and consistent
* Understands that behaviour is communication
* Values dignity of risk
* Is genuinely curious about people
* Is motivated by seeing long-term progress

If you are studying Disability, Mental Health, Psychology, Education, Social Work or Community Services, this role will give you deep, practical experience.

If you have lived experience or a neurodiversity-affirming lens — we welcome that insight.

Essential Requirements

* Minimum Certificate III in Community Services (or working towards) or other relevant qualifications
* Experience supporting people with complex needs
* Current NDIS Worker Screening Check
* First Aid & CPR
* Police Check
* Full Driver's Licence & reliable vehicle
* Permanent resident status or Australian citizenship required

What Makes Someone Thrive Here?

* You see this as a profession, not just a job
* You believe kindness and boundaries can co-exist
* You want to work in a team that genuinely cares
* You want to make a measurable difference

If you are looking for a role where:

* Your work matters
* Your development matters
* Your wellbeing matters
* And your integrity matters

We would love to hear from you
