WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING
As the Regulatory Insight Specialist, you will play a key role in Coal LSL's high standard of consistent, risk-based and data driven regulatory decision-making, uplifting CLSL's regulatory maturity and fostering its success as an effective regulator. You will advocate for the use of intelligence in regulatory decision-making at all levels and promote an intelligence culture that supports a targeted approach to compliance.
You will:
* Maintain in-depth knowledge of CLSL's legislative interpretations, their application and implications for regulatory governance, operational processes, organisational decision-making and reporting
* Manage, promote and implement regulatory policies, frameworks, and guidelines, ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements and organisational strategy
* Capture, create and disseminate regulatory knowledge within CLSL
* Champion regulatory and technical knowledge within CLSL
* Provide advice on appropriate regulatory decision-making practices to ensure compliance with CLSL's regulatory and risk strategies
* Manage the regulatory documents in CLSL platforms
* Maintain strong engagement, communication and partnerships with internal stakeholders to understand operational requirements, regulatory governance frameworks and embed regulatory practices
* Provide high level expertise, analysis and recommendations on complex and sensitive matters and identify opportunities and solutions to address emergent, enduring and contentious issues
* Lead the implementation of regulatory policies and interpretations through collaborative practices that support innovation and adoption
* Continuously improve CLSL's regulatory effectiveness, including identification of knowledge/documentation gaps, preparation of new/amended documentation to drive continuous improvement
* Own and steward the calendar of regulatory governance forums, enabling both CLSL internal and Board sub-committees to be effectively planned for and executed

This is a permanent role based in Newcastle.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING
To be successful in the role of Regulatory Insight Specialist, you will have previous experience interpreting complex information, collaborating on evidence-based decisions and documenting outcomes in a shared knowledge base, preferably within a regulatory environment.
Your background will demonstrate your:
* Proven policy development skills including the ability to co-create policy solutions through an evidence-based approach and working with internal stakeholders
* Experience in developing and maintaining documents, documentation sets and/or knowledge databases
* Ability to learn complex concepts quickly and explain with clarity and technical accuracy, adjusting language according to target audience
* Strong attention to detail
* Well-developed analytical, conceptual, and problem-solving skills, including the ability to provide concise advice and recommendations
* Aptitude for risk-based and data-driven decision making
* Strong interpersonal skills with an ability to build collaborative and productive relationships with all levels of the organisation
* Excellent communication skills, with the ability to tailor written and spoken styles to the relevant audience
* Sound and effective organisational skills, including the ability to manage changes to requirements and priorities within tight timeframes
* Experience developing and maintaining documentation sets or knowledge databases in a regulatory context (desirable)
You will have a bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as technical writing, communications, or equivalent.
