The Boat Yard Hand is a hands-on role responsible for supporting the day-to-day operations of the boatyard, including pressure washing of vessels, the safe operation of lifting equipment, vessel handling, general yard maintenance, and assisting trades and customers. The role is suited to someone who is physically fit, has initiative, boating experience and is passionate about all things marine.
Approximately 40 hours per week, 7:00am to 3:30pm, Monday to Friday.
Key Responsibilities
* Pressure wash, preparation of lifting slings, and boat preparation tasks
* General yard, shed and marine infrastructure maintenance
* Assist with vessel movements, hardstand placements, and blocking vessels securely
* Operate the boat lifter (travel lift/hoist) to haul out and launch vessels safely (or train until capable and certified)
* Maintain yard cleanliness and ensure equipment is stored and used correctly
* Support marine trades and customers with vessel access and site setup
* Conduct regular checks and basic maintenance of yard machinery and tools
* Follow all safety procedures and environmental regulations
* Report hazards, equipment issues, and safety incidents promptly
* Work cooperatively as part of a small, skilled team
Must Haves:
* Forklift licence
* Manual Drivers Licence
* Be passionate for boats or the marine environment
* Comfortable working outdoors and undertaking physical labour
* Strong understanding of safe work practices
* Positive attitude, reliable, and team-focused
Desirable:
* Recreational Skippers Ticket or Coxswains
* Customer Service Experience
* Experience operating a boat lifter or willingness to be trained (essential for longer-term role)
