As a Lifeguard you will undertake a range of duties such as:
- Ensure swimming pools and surrounds are under surveillance.
- Ensure the requirements of the Guidelines for Safe Pool Operations (RLSSA) are maintained at all times.
- Ensure that no member of the public is at risk, giving priority to rescue and protection of swimmers from danger or likelihood of injury.
- Carry out rescues; render first aid/resuscitation to any person who may require that attention.
- Provide a high level of customer service to patrons and at the same time facilitate a safe and enjoyable aquatic experience.
- Responsible for opening and closing procedures, including appropriate securing of facilities and reporting any security matters to the Aquatic Supervisor.
- In addition to upholding set operational procedures within the facility including water & temperature testing, cleaning and plant and equipment maintenance.
- Ensure patrons conduct themselves in accordance with the Council's conditions of entry.
- Participate in regular in-house training and maintain fitness levels, swimming skills, strength and endurance
- Undertake any other duties as are reasonably within the limits of the employee's skills, competence and training.
Key Selection Criteria
1. Current Applied First Aid Certificate essential
2. RLSSA Pool Lifeguard Certificate essential
3. Resuscitation Certificate essential
4. Hold a current Working with Children Suitability Card or able to obtain
5. Demonstrated skills and ability to work in a multidisciplinary team with mínimal supervision
6. Excellent customer service skills
7. Previous experience working within an aquatic environment as a lifeguard is highly desirable
