The Opportunity

We have an opportunity for a Fisheries Manager to be part of the Commercial Fisheries group of the Fisheries Management Unit within the Fisheries and Aquaculture Division.

The primary purpose of the role is the sustainable development, management and conservation of South Australian fisheries through consultative engagement with stakeholders, including commercial and recreational fishers, environmental groups and other South Australian government departments. The role also works closely with the Aquatic Sciences group of the South Australian Research and Development Institute (SARDI) to ensure the delivery of science to support the Management of South Australian fisheries.

In the role you will provide advice to the Executive Director, Fisheries and Aquaculture and the Minister for Primary Industries and Regions on the Management of South Australian fisheries. You will work within a Team to consider legal, economic and science issues, to ensure the effective application of fisheries management that considers the views of all stakeholders.

To be successful in the role you will need to balance competing interests and views, while maintaining the primary objective of maintaining sustainable fish stocks.

Special Conditions

* Successful applicant will be required to satisfactorily complete a National Police Check (NPC) prior to being made an offer of employment.
* Australian residency or current works permit is required (responsibility of applicant to provide evidence of a current work permit).

* Full time opportunity, 37.5 hours per week.

Requirements

* Possession of a current driver's licence and willingness to drive.
* Out of hours work and inter / intrastate travel may be required.

* The incumbent will be required to undertake emergency management training and must be willing to participate in emergency preparedness, response and recovery activities required by government agencies.

Remuneration

ASO6 - $98,478 min - $104,165 max per annum, plus superannuation
