Support Worker
Posted: 17 January
Offer description

Full time (part time negotiable), ongoing position

The job:

The Indigenous Client Support Worker (ICSW) is a key member of the Support Team, working closely with KWILS' Legal Team to provide culturally sensitive, trauma-informed social support and case management. This role is essential in identifying, addressing, and resolving non-legal concerns, particularly those that increase the risk of domestic, family and sexual violence.

The ICSW also significantly contributes to building a deeper understanding of legal rights and increasing access to justice and safety for women and children that access KWILS. The ICSW also serves as a vital connection for non-Aboriginal staff; for Aboriginal clients and KWILS; for KWILS and remote Aboriginal communities, and for KWILS and Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations.

What we're looking for:

* Knowledge of (or willingness to learn) DFSV legislation, including NT mandatory reporting, child protection, and family law
* Understanding of DFSV dynamics—trauma, coercive control, and the gendered nature of violence
* Awareness of barriers faced by women, especially those from diverse backgrounds
* Strong communication skills with the ability to explain sensitive info clearly
* Able to build relationships with clients and other services
* Confident decision-maker, including in crisis situations and with limited supervision
* Maintains confidentiality and professional boundaries
* Comfortable with Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Teams, Excel)
* Willing and able to travel to remote areas
* Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander identity is required for this position
* Minimum 6 months experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities
* Australian citizenship or permanent residency required

What we offer:

* Salary - $76,372 – $81,905, plus 12% superannuation, 17.5% leave loading and 6 weeks annual leave per year (pro rata).
* Retention bonus – additional 3% of salary paid after 12 months of continuous service.
* Salary packaging – Take home more pay with tax-saving benefits.
* Career growth & ongoing learning – Access training and a dedicated PD budget to keep building your skills.
* Wellbeing support – Free, confidential EAP services
* Flexibility – We tailor roles to fit your needs
* Inclusive culture – Join a diverse, supportive and friendly team
