Job description

Make an impact in a role that blends community programs, communications, events and purpose‐driven work.

First Nations Economics (FNE) is an Aboriginal‐led organisation working alongside communities to strengthen social, cultural and economic prosperity. We reinvest 100% of our profits into community‐led programs, including scholarships, education, financial capability and pro bono advisory for First Nations organisations.

We're looking for an Associate, Social Programs & Communications (Identified) — someone who is organised, creative and community‐minded. You might think of yourself as a social impact all‐rounder who brings energy, care and practical coordination support to meaningful work.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys both communications and events, thrives in a collaborative environment, and wants to grow their skills while contributing to community‐led futures.

About the Role

In this role, you'll assist with the coordination of programs, events and communications that uplift First Nations communities. Your work will help keep programs running smoothly and ensure our stories, activities and impact are shared clearly and respectfully.

You'll support:

* organising meetings, workshops, events and travel
* communications across social media, newsletters and community updates
* content creation, storytelling and digital engagement
* planning and logistics for training sessions, launches and community activities
* maintaining organised systems, documentation and reporting
* project coordination across multiple programs
* keeping milestones and tasks on track alongside senior team members

This is a hands‐on role where you'll build confidence in program delivery, community engagement, communications and how an Aboriginal‐led organisation operates.

About You

You're an organised and creative communicator who enjoys turning ideas into content, events and community‐centred activities. You can balance multiple priorities, work collaboratively and maintain a high level of professionalism.

You'll bring:

* experience in coordination, administration, communications, events or community engagement
* strong writing and communication skills
* confidence using digital tools (Microsoft 365, Canva, social media platforms)
* the ability to work independently on tasks while seeking guidance when needed
* a genuine commitment to community‐led futures and First Nations self‐determination
* a willingness to learn and contribute to a purpose‐driven team
* A full driver's licence and experience in education, research, not‐for‐profit or community settings are beneficial but not essential.

This is a First Nations identified position. Being Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander is a genuine occupational requirement under s14 of the Anti‐Discrimination Act 1977 (NSW).

What We Offer
* Competitive salary plus salary packaging up to $15,900
* Five weeks annual leave and flexible leave options
* Hybrid working arrangements
* Strong mentoring and professional development
* A culturally grounded, supportive workplace
* The opportunity to contribute to meaningful, community‐led impact
