Weldone is a leading provider of structural steel fabrication for a wide range of industrial, commercial, and infrastructure projects around regional Victoria. With a focus on quality, efficiency and long-term relationships with our suppliers and clients, we are expanding our operations and looking for an experienced Workshop Manager to oversee the day-to-day production processes in our steel fabrication workshop.

Key Responsibilities
* Production Management & Scheduling
Develop, implement, and manage production schedules to ensure all projects are delivered on time, and to the highest quality standards.
Allocate resources efficiently, balancing workload, and ensuring optimal utilization of materials, equipment, and labour.
* Team Leadership & Development
Lead and motivate a team of skilled fabricators, welders, apprentices and labourers in the workshop and yard. Foster a collaborative and high-performance culture by providing clear direction, regular training, and career development opportunities.
Ensure the team adheres to production processes, quality standards, and safety protocols.
* KPI Setting & Monitoring
Define and track Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) related to production efficiency, material waste, on-time delivery, and quality control.
Regularly review performance against targets and implement corrective actions where necessary to optimize production.
* Quality Assurance & Continuous Improvement
Oversee the implementation of quality control procedures, ensuring all fabrication work meets industry standards and project specifications.
Identify areas for improvement and drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity and reduce costs.
* Health & Safety Compliance
Maintain a strong focus on health and safety within the workshop. Ensure compliance with all safety regulations, conduct regular safety audits, and promote a culture of safety-first.
Ensure all team members are trained in safety protocols and safe operating procedures.
* Inventory & Resource Management
Monitor inventory levels of materials, tools, and consumables, ensuring a smooth flow of production without stockouts or excess inventory.
Coordinate with procurement teams to ensure timely delivery of materials and equipment required for production.
* Collaboration & Reporting
Work closely with the Project Managers, Engineers, and other departments to ensure alignment between workshop production and project goals.
Provide regular progress updates, production reports, and performance analysis to senior management.
* Maintenance & Equipment Management
Oversee the maintenance of workshop equipment and machinery. Ensure regular servicing and prompt resolution of any breakdowns to minimize production downtime.

Requirements
* Proven Experience – At least 3-5 years of experience in a workshop management role within a structural steel, fabrication, or manufacturing environment.
* Leadership Skills – Strong leadership abilities with experience in managing teams, improving performance, and fostering a positive work culture.
* Technical Expertise – Deep understanding of structural steel fabrication processes and welding, with the ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
* KPI & Performance Management – Proven ability to set and track KPIs, analyse production data, and implement strategies to improve operational efficiency.
* Problem-Solving – Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to address fabrication issues and implement corrective actions.
* Health & Safety Knowledge – Solid knowledge of workplace safety standards and experience in enforcing safety protocols in a workshop environment.
* Qualifications – Relevant Trade qualification in metal fabrication, boilermaker, structural steel fabrication (Cert III or higher) Additional certifications in management or health and safety are a plus.
