Aviation Protection Officer (Casual) at Launceston Airport. The Terminal Operations team is seeking highly driven, passionate individuals who are available to work high quality security functions across Launceston Airport.
Responsibilities
* Ensure consistent and standard security practices, checking and clearing passengers and their possessions before departure
* Control access to security-sensitive areas, conduct physical searches, identify weapons, explosives and prohibited items
* Coordinate efficiently the flow of passengers through security screening
* Demonstrate effective communication and sound decision‐making skills
* Provide consistent, high‐quality customer service
* Work as part of a high‐performing team

Minimum Criteria
* Ability to obtain an ASIC security clearance (criminal history clearance for past 10 years)
* Successfully pass drug & alcohol screening, Ishihara test and medical assessments
* Hold or be willing to obtain a Certificate II in Transport Security Protection
* 24/7 availability, including shift work and weekends on a rotating roster
* Own reliable transport
* Highly developed security awareness and focus
* Ability to work in a fast‐paced environment
* Effective communication skills and professional demeanor
* Computer literacy skills (Windows systems, Microsoft Office Suite)
* Extensive experience in high‐quality customer service
* Must have full working rights
Certification Details
Aviation security requires a Certificate II in Transport Security Protection (TSP). ISS is both Employer and Training Provider, offering the qualification and 40 hours of paid on‐the‐job training. The nationally recognised qualification costs $1000 (normally $2000) and includes approximately 25 hours of online learning and 5 days of paid practical training within airport operations.
