Role Summary

About the Role
As a Senior Legal Counsel, you will be part of a high‐performing and collaborative Legal Services team, reporting to the Director - Legal Services. You will partner closely with the Quality and Safety division, clinicians, executives and operational leaders to provide expert legal advice across a broad range of medico‐legal, governance, privacy and compliance matters and play a key role in the management of claims and coronial matters.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide expert legal advice on a broad range of clinical and medico-legal matters across the organisation.
* Manage claims and litigation (in conjunction with VMIA panel firms).
* Support coronial investigations and inquests, including preparation of staff statements.
* Advise on legal aspects and issues involving insurance, confidentiality, privacy, serious complaints and adverse incidents.
About You
* Admitted to legal practice in Victoria with a minimum of 6 years post qualification experience.
* Demonstrated experience in medico-legal, litigation or insurance.
* Proven experience in managing complex, sensitive matters in a fast‐paced environment.
* Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate complex legal issues into practical, operational advice.
* Ability to work autonomously and manage competing priorities.
