It has campuses in the Sydney Dental Hospital (in inner-eastern Sydney), the Westmead Centre for Oral Health at Westmead Hospital (in western Sydney), the Nepean Centre for Oral Health and outreach service-based teaching is undertaken across the state of NSW. The Practitioner in Dentistry Level B (Lecturer) will prepare students in clinical skills required to meet eligibility requirements for completion of a degree leading to professional registration. They will exercise professional judgement on routine clinical matters to teach and supervise undergraduate and postgraduate students, including those on clinical placement. They should have a very strong clinical experience combined with an educational or management focus and may require or seek collaborative consultation for supervision from senior staff when performing novel, complex or critical tasks. The Practitioner (Level B, Lecturer) roles in the Sydney Dental School are for general dentists or Oral Health Therapists, Dental Hygienists, Dental Prosthetists, Dental Therapists with more than 3 years’ experience who have already developed skills and competencies. They will generally hold primary employment (including self-employment) outside the University in public or private health settings. The Practitioner in Dentistry Level C (Senior Lecturer) significantly contributes to clinical teaching and learning by applying their extensive clinical experience in developing and implementing contemporary, relevant and best-practice clinical skills teaching and assessment with a focus on coaching and developing students in the provision of best-practice patient care within a real or simulated clinical setting (including training in professional standards of the discipline) and related or incidental activities. They will teach and supervise mainly postgraduate students, but may also be involved in undergraduate teaching, including students on placement. They may be required to supervise/support Level 1 & 2 Practitioners and technical support staff as required. The Practitioner (Level C, Senior Lecturer) roles in the Sydney Dental School are for Dental Specialists or Oral Health Therapists, Dental Hygienists, Dental Prosthetists, Dental Therapists in leadership roles. They will generally hold primary employment (including self-employment) outside the University in public or private health settings. Your key responsibilities will be to: Level B: undertake teaching and training of students in clinical setting (which can include some but not solely teaching in a simulated clinical setting), applying clinical experience and expertise to inform best practice teaching deliver professional standards training and education to students to prepare them to meet eligibility requirements for completion of a degree leading to professional registration applies clinical knowledge and experience to inform high-quality patient care whilst also supervising the training of pre-registration students engage in high-quality clinical teaching and learning experiences which meet the University’s expectations and standards for clinical education staff. Level C APHRA registered Bachelor’s degree in relevant field demonstrated excellence in clinical activities relevant to educational design and practice demonstrated understanding of contemporary clinical best-practice a dental specialist or highly qualified health professional or practitioner with an extensive clinical experience who have developed specialist or advanced skills and competencies have deep and broad experience in effective clinical teaching and learning, as evidenced by high-quality student outcomes demonstrated excellence in clinical activities relevant to educational design and practice demonstrated applied understanding of contemporary clinical best-practice significant experience in supervising and or mentoring students extensive knowledge and understanding of contemporary teaching practices and assessment in clinical and/or simulation settings.
