Vacancies Registered Nurse, Windmill Hill Medical (Launceston) 13 High Street, Launceston TAS 7250 Location: Northern Tasmania Occupation: Nursing Position Type: Casual / Contract / Locum Windmill Hill Medical is seeking a motivated and compassionate Registered Nurse (RN) to join their team on a casual basis. This role is vital in supporting their General Practitioners to deliver high-quality, patient-centred care. The successful candidate will provide a range of nursing services in a general practice setting, with a key responsibility being post-operative wound care. The position will begin with five shifts over a four-week roster, with the opportunity to expand on this in the future. The Position Key Responsibilities 1. Patient Care and Clinical Services Conduct comprehensive nursing assessments for patients Develop and implement health care plans to improve patient outcomes. Provide nursing care within the practice. Support chronic disease management through care plans, education, and regular reviews. Perform wound care, immunisations, health screenings, and health monitoring. Assist General Practitioners with clinical procedures. Deliver health education and promote preventative health measures. Ensure all care is aligned with Medicare Benefits Schedule (MBS) and clinical best practice. 2. Clinical Data and Records Management Maintain accurate clinical documentation in line with practice policy. Manage recall systems and chronic disease registers. Monitor ongoing patient health and support continuity of care. Review and update patient records to reflect current health status and interventions. Support the practice in meeting funding, billing, and reporting requirements. 3. Quality Improvement and Safety Participate in the development and review of clinical protocols and guidelines. Ensure compliance with infection control standards and sterilisation procedures. Maintain cold chain and medication storage systems. Assist in practice accreditation processes (e.g., RACGP standards). Contribute to research and continuous improvement initiatives. Attend case conferences and community planning meetings as required. Core Competencies and Requirements Bachelor of Nursing qualification Current registration with AHPRA and the Nursing and Midwifery board of Australia Current Australian drivers licence Satisfactory National Police clearance Experience in general practice or primary health care nursing (preferred). Excellent clinical assessment and nursing care skills. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team. Proficiency in medical software and clinical documentation. Understanding of Medicare, chronic disease management, and general practice billing. Commitment to patient confidentiality, ethical practice, and safety standards.
