* Contract position for approximately 17 months, full-time hours
* Base salary: $101K - $123K (pro-rata) plus 15.4% ABC nominated super
The Role

The ABC is looking for a Journalist to research, write, and deliver compelling news and current affairs stories that are accurate, timely, and original, bringing fresh perspectives to a broad range of topics that inform audiences.

The Job
* Generate stories that reflect Australia's cultural, geographic, and socio-economic diversity.
* Engage with communities to find and tell stories relevant to them and aligned with News strategy.
* Create compelling long‐form current affairs stories demonstrating strong writing and investigative skills.
* Produce agenda‐setting stories that appeal to a broad Australian audience.
* Research materials, identify sources, and conduct interviews while staying informed on political, social, and economic issues.
* Build and maintain business, political, and general contacts for fresh story ideas and unique angles.
* Deliver high‐quality digital content that meets ABC editorial standards.

About You

You'll have:

* Relevant qualifications or equivalent experience
* Strong long‐form reporting, writing and storytelling skills
* Experience in TV current affairs and feature production
* Proven ability to break important stories
* Knowledge of political, social and economic issues
* Excellent communication skills and ability to work independently
* Experience in digital news environments
* Commitment to diverse and representative storytelling
* Strong network across political, business and community sectors
