Our client, a well‑established specialist medical practice, is seeking an experienced Medical Typist/Administrator to join their team on a permanent, part‑time basis. The practice offers medical consultations, medico‑legal services, and neurophysiology, including nerve conduction studies and EEGs. This is a busy, dynamic environment perfect for a reliable and skilled professional looking to build a long‑term career in private specialist practice.
This role is part‑time requiring work on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday each week with 7.6‑hour days. There may be occasional opportunities to cover additional shifts during staff leave or absences.
We are looking for a well‑rounded, experienced professional who can step into the role confidently and make an immediate impact.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
* Assisting with patient clinics, including preparing patient charts for consultations and ensuring test results are received and filed.
* Welcoming and registering patients, managing arrivals for consultations, and assisting with general patient enquiries.
* Supporting the front desk team with overflow telephone enquiries, patient bookings and rescheduling appointments.
* Monitoring and actioning incoming patient correspondence in a timely manner.
* Collaborating with the Practice Manager and Specialists to ensure the smooth day‑to‑day operation of the practice.
* Typing all medical correspondence using Phillips Speech Live digital dictation (approximately 1.5–2 days per week focused on medical typing).
Candidate Requirements
* A strong desire to provide a high level of service to the patients of the practice.
* Immaculate personal presentation.
* An exemplary telephone manner and a compassionate demeanour.
* At least 2 years previous experience working within a specialist practice.
* Must be a team player with exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
* Demonstrate you are proactive with strong time management and organisational skills along with the ability to prioritise your workload efficiently.
* Must be able to multi‑skill and work under pressure.
* Fast and accurate typing capabilities as well as the ability to proof read and format letters.
* High level of competency in Microsoft Word and Outlook and digital dictation devices (Phillips and/or Olympus), prefer previous experience with Genie software or alike.
Remuneration
The role offers a competitive rate of $35–$40 per hour plus super for a suitably experienced candidate, along with ample secure street parking for staff.
