Your role as a Web Developer; designs, creates, tests, and maintains websites and web applications by writing and implementing code. Key responsibilities include translating our client requirements into functional sites, integrating multimedia content, optimizing for performance and user experience, and ensuring website security and stability. Skills required include proficiency in front-end (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) and back-end programming languages (PHP, Python), database management, analytical thinking, and strong communication skills. Plans, produces, and maintains websites using web programming languages, software applications, technologies, and databases together with specifications of user needs, often in conjunction with other IT Professionals such as ICT Business Analysts, Web Designers and Computer Network and Systems Engineers and other SME's specialists.
Key Responsibilities
* Design and Development: Create wireframes, prototypes, and functional websites and web applications from client specifications and business requirements.
* Coding: Write, test, and modify code for both the user-facing (front-end) and server-side (back-end) components of a website.
* Content Integration: Incorporate and convert graphic, audio, video, and text content into compatible web formats.
* Performance and Optimization: Analyze and improve website speed, scalability, and search engine optimization (SEO).
* Testing and Debugging: Conduct various tests, including unit and user-acceptance tests, to identify and fix bugs and ensure software stability.
* Maintenance and Security:
· Regularly back up websites, enforce security protocols, and perform ongoing maintenance to ensure smooth operation.
* analysing, designing, and developing Internet sites applying a mixture of artistry and creativity with software programming and scripting languages and interfacing with operating environments
* designing and developing digital animations, imaging, presentations, games, audio and video clips, and Internet applications using multimedia software, tools and utilities, interactive graphics, and programming languages
* communicating with network SME's specialists regarding web-related issues, such as security and hosting websites, to control and enforce Internet and web server security, space allocation, user access, business continuity, website backup, and disaster recovery planning
* designing, developing, and integrating computer code with other specialised inputs, such as image files, audio files, and scripting languages, to produce, maintain and support websites
* assisting in analysing, specifying, and developing Internet strategies, web-based methodologies, and development plans
Key Skills and Knowledge
* Programming Languages: Fluency in front-end technologies like HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript, and back-end languages such as PHP, Python, or Java.
* Web Frameworks: Experience with relevant frameworks and tools for efficient development.
* Databases: Understanding of database management, configuration, and performance optimization.
* User Experience (UX): Familiarity with UX principles and mobile development to create user-friendly interfaces.
* Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills: Strong logical thinking and analytical skills to troubleshoot issues and develop innovative solutions.
* Communication and Collaboration: Excellent written and verbal communication skills to work effectively with clients, stakeholders, and team members.
· Analyse and develop websites and Internet applications using programming, scripting, and multimedia technologies
· Design and develop interactive digital content, including animations, graphics, audio, and video elements
· Integrate web applications with databases, APIs, multimedia assets, and other specialised inputs
· Work with network and IT specialists to manage web hosting, server security, access controls, backups, and disaster recovery planning
· Maintain and support existing websites, ensuring performance, security, and scalability
· Assist with Internet strategies, web-based methodologies, and development planning in line with business requirements
Out Work Environment
* Location: Web developers can work in various settings, including Work from Home as agreed with clients, agencies, or for companies that offer web services.
* Work-life balance: Many roles involve standard office hours, although work may require longer or irregular hours to meet project deadlines.
* Work modes: Roles can be performed in a traditional office setting, or remotely from home, requiring only a reliable computer, related software tools and internet connection.
Additional activities:
· Maintenance supports including backups, updates and preparing and maintaining procedures and documentation of Client ICT requirements
· Coordinating with team lead for necessary procedures & guidelines.
· Coordinating with overseas clients for IT requirements.
· Intra-State visits as required for site survey and necessary supports.
· Providing support on development, in support of specific business needs and related ICT requirements
Qualification:
* Degree in Computer Science or Equivalent Skills.
* Three – Five years of experience as Web Developer with project management skills
Skills and Ability:
* Ability to take initiative and work unsupervised.
* Ability to work with flexible working hours (occasionally after office hours)
* Excellent analytical and risk assessment skills.
* Strong Understanding on new technologies.
· Highly developed communication and consultative skill and will be able to work collaboratively with other staffs across functions of the business
