Local HSEQ Advisor - 12-month contract (Mon-Fri with flexible, full-time hours)
Fixed Term - Full Time Hours | Immediate Start. We are seeking a capable and proactive HSEQ Advisor with strong admin skills to support our growing business during a 12-month leave period. This opportunity would suit an experienced Advisor or a qualified and motivated HSEQ Administrator ready to step confidently into an advisory-level position. Reporting directly to the HSEQ Manager, this role strengthens compliance, supports our teams on the road and drives continuous improvement across the business.
Note: This is a fixed-term, full-time position. Immediate start available.
Responsibilities
* This is a dynamic role that combines system management, worker engagement, and administrative coordination.
* Administer health surveillance, drug and alcohol testing, fatigue and injury management processes:
o Liaison with workers, insurers and medical professionals.
o Retention and/or distribution of associated records.
o Preparation and monitoring of fatigue and journey management plans.
* Completion of quality, safety and compliance audits and inspections:
o Task is desktop and/or site based.
o Minimum of 1 site-based day per week.
o Site days vary dependent upon business needs and commence when advisor has completed traffic qualifications and project inductions.
* Development and review of risk assessment documents and records:
o Examples include SWMS, JHA, safe work procedures.
* Supplier and subcontractor management:
o Prequalification assessment and management of critical suppliers and subcontractors.
* Document management, control and distribution:
o Review or development of HSEQ Policies, Procedures and Plans.
* Training and competency process support:
o Review, verification and reporting on employee and subcontractor qualifications and inductions.
* Contribute to internal and external audits and assessments of HSEQ systems and procedures to ensure compliance with ISO9001, ISO45001, ISO14001:
o Completion of internal audits and supporting the collation of evidence for external audits of HSEQ systems to the 3 ISO standards annually and at client request.
* Prompt and effective hazard and incident management:
o Encourage and support workers to report hazards and incidents, collate records for investigations, identify root cause, corrective and preventative actions.
o Communicate with traffic workers, clients, regulatory bodies and company departments to effectively manage hazards and incidents.
* Facilitate consultation and communication:
o Includes facilitating meetings, toolbox talks and training sessions.
* Management of HSEQ department's shared inbox:
o Regular review, distribution of emails and completion or tracking of associated tasks.
* Drive ongoing continuous improvement within the business:
o Identify improvement actions from all aspects of the HSEQ management system.
o Enter, maintain, track improvement actions from identification to completion.
o Review risk and benefits of actions.
* Management of HSEQ Objectives, KPIs and Statistics:
o Accurate data input into a range of registers and systems by due dates (monthly) for reporting to clients and SJ Top Management.
o Identify and escalate HSEQ performance issues and achievements.
* Support the development and rollout of new HSEQ software.
* Other duties as directed by the HSEQ Manager.
What you will bring to the role

Essential
* Certificate IV in WHS (BSB41419) or willing to obtain.
* Capacity to work a standard 38-hour week with some planned variations to rostered hours to meet business needs: Occasional travel, 1-3 days on remote sites. Early starts or late finishes, 1-5 days per month for meetings, training, etc.
* 2 years' experience in an office environment.
* WA Driver's Licence (C Class preferred)
* Candidates must have valid Australian work rights and eligibility to work in Australia.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills.
* Advanced user of Microsoft Office software, Adobe Pro and online HSEQ/Operational software platforms.
* Well-developed administration skillset.
* Driven and self-motivated with ability to work independently and collaboratively.
* Effective time management and ability to manage multiple priorities.
* High level interpersonal skills with capacity to build positive working relationships.

* Ability to pass pre-employment and ongoing health and criminal record screening; medically and psychologically fit for a high-risk environment; pass drug and alcohol tests; criminal record screening.
Desirable:
* Experience in traffic management or construction industry.
* Construction Induction Card (White/Blue Card).
* WA traffic qualifications (BWTM/TC) or willingness to obtain.
* HLTPAT005 – Collect specimens for drugs of abuse testing or willingness to obtain.
* Incident investigation experience or ICAM Certification.
* Dedication to safety, quality and environment.
* Experience in injury management, auditing, training and assessing.
