Job Description:
We are seeking a highly skilled Media Manager/Archivist to preserve the CAAMA Collection and manage its digital transformation. This role involves facilitating access, obtaining community consent, and supporting new content production.
The successful candidate will be responsible for building the collection, enhancing discoverability, and accessibility. Tasks include storage, preservation, organisation, description, and access of audio, video, and document assets.
Australian work rights are required for this position.
Essential Functions:
* Manage physical archives using current best practices for preservation and storage.
* Conduct preservation of materials such as cleaning and repair of damaged audio and visual material.
* Manage descriptive, technical, administrative, and preservation metadata for accessibility and long-term preservation.
* Lead efforts with external digitisation partners to preserve analogue audio and video assets.
* Access, arrange, describe, and process manuscripts, photographs, audio-visual assets, oral histories, electronic records, and other materials in accordance with archival standards.
* Assist in developing strategies for preserving digital items.

* Strong organisational and analytical skills with attention to detail.
* Excellent communication skills with the ability to convey complex information clearly.
* Technical expertise and knowledge of media formats, digital preservation techniques, and archival management systems.
* Experience working with archival management systems.
* A passion for history and media, understanding cultural heritage preservation.
* An understanding of Indigenous Cultural and Intellectual Property Rights, cultural protocols, and related cultural safety issues.
