About the PhD Scholarship
This prestigious scholarship will be awarded to an outstanding applicant interested in connecting spatial and spectral information to understand complex materials systems at the molecular level with machine learning.
The successful candidate will undertake a study analysing mass spectral imaging data streams in real time using machine learning workflows. A pathway for future autonomous instrument control and self-directed experimentation will be developed, recognizing the challenge presented by the integration of multiple complex systems.
Coding and user interface development skills will be developed, enabling the candidate to create innovative solutions. This is a three and a half year stipend scholarship to support living costs and provide opportunities for professional development.
To be eligible, applicants must be Australian citizens, permanent residents, or New Zealand special category visa holders. They should agree to be enrolled full-time and undertake research at La Trobe University's Melbourne campus.
We prioritise applications from candidates who have an outstanding record of prior performance, completed a Masters by Research or other significant body of research, and possess excellent grounding in relevant disciplines such as physics, chemistry, biology, engineering, machine learning, and data science.
