About the Role
Are you a pool technician, pool shop employee, or plumber who's tired of the heat, the travel, and the physical toll? Do you want to use everything you know about pools — without crawling under houses or driving between jobs?
We're an established Gold Coast pool equipment manufacturer and online retailer, and we're entering a new chapter under new management. We need someone who genuinely knows pool equipment inside out to become the technical expert our customers rely on.
This is a hands-on technical role — just done from a desk instead of a van.
What You'll Actually Do
Most of your day will be pure pool problem-solving:
* Talking to customers about chlorinator faults, cell failures, and pump/filtration issues — and working out exactly what they need
* Diagnosing problems over the phone, email, and live chat using your knowledge of how these systems actually work
* Guiding customers to the right replacement cells, control boxes, and parts based on their existing setup
* Explaining water chemistry — pH, salt, stabiliser — and why their chlorinator isn't producing chlorine
* Handling warranty claims: assessing faults, communicating with customers, coordinating repairs and replacements
* Troubleshooting error codes and common failure modes remotely
The remaining part of your day is the online side — processing orders through Shopify, managing shipping, and keeping customer records tidy. If you're comfortable with computers, this part is quick to learn.
What You Need to Bring
Pool expertise (essential):
* Hands-on experience with saltwater chlorinators — control boxes, electrolytic cells, how salt converts to chlorine
* Strong understanding of pool chemistry — pH, salt levels, stabiliser, total alkalinity
* Working knowledge of pool pumps, filtration systems, and how everything connects
* Ability to diagnose faults from a customer's description — the way you already do every day
* Familiarity with common chlorinator brands
Tech comfort (essential but learnable):
* Confident using a computer all day — email, web browsers, basic software
* Happy to learn our online systems (we'll train you on Shopify and everything else)
* Good typing and written communication — you'll be doing a lot of email and live chat
The person:
* Practical problem-solver who genuinely enjoys helping people fix things
* Calm with frustrated customers — their pool's green and it's 35°C, they need your help
* Takes ownership and follows through
* Reliable and self-motivated
