**The Opportunity**
The Regulation Directorate sits within the Transport Policy and Regulation Division and is responsible for driving the Government's regulation and policy initiatives and ensuring appropriate compliance, behaviour and safe access across our transport networks.
We are seeking to recruit an Investigator to join our Compliance, Investigations and Prosecution Team who will be responsible for investigating varying breaches of the Motor Vehicles Act 1959, Passenger Transport Act 1994 and other Acts as required.
This role involves a diverse range of investigative responsibilities, including preparing statements, undertaking external enquiries, conducting interviews, and compiling briefs of evidence in support of administrative decision makers and prosecuting authorities.
Our Investigators prepare operational orders and conduct field operations; collate and analyse data to identify breaches of legislation, administrative rules, and policy guidelines; and contribute to the development of reform legislation, policies, and risk mitigation strategies.
This role involves regular consultation and engagement with other Department teams, across Federal & State agencies and with industry members.

**Requirements**:
Investigation techniques qualification (or equivalent) along with a current driver's licence is essential for this role.
**Special Conditions**
- A National Police Check (NPC) which must be renewed every three years.
- A Department for Human Services (DHS) Working with Children Check (WWCC) which is required to be renewed every five years before expiry.
- Some out of hours and weekend work, along with some intra/interstate travel requiring overnight stays, may be required.
**Tenure of Vacancy**
Temporary appointment up to 12 months
**Remuneration**
ASO5 - $ 85,790 to $ 95,413 pa + superannuation
